The Frisch School, a private, coed Yeshiva High School, offers a demanding dual curriculum of Judaic and college preparatory studies. The goals of the Frisch School are to promote the values of the Judaic heritage and the ideals of American democracy, within an environment that encourages critical and creative thought.
I. STUDENT POPULATION The Frisch School, with a population of over 650 students in grades 9-12, draws its students from the greater Metropolitan area. Several out of state students as well as foreign students also attend The Frisch School.
II. ADMISSIONS Admission to Frisch is gained through achievement on standardized tests administered to all applicants, a personal interview and elementary school records.
III. ACADEMIC SYSTEM The school year is divided into two semesters. Both semesters are averaged with the final exam to arrive at the annual grade. For courses with a midterm exam, the midterm and final exam are averaged with the semester grades to arrive at the annual grade. Calculated at the end of each year, the GPA is based on all credited courses, except physical education and health.
IV. CLASS DESIGNATIONS Class descrptions are AP, which is used only for College Board Advance Placements courses; Honors (H) which is our highest level in most other courses; and Advanced (A) which is taught at a level significantly above the college-preparatory level. All undesignated courses are college-preparatory level. (The highest level Judaic Studies and math courses are designated HH, High Honors). Students are grouped according to their ability. Class designations for each level include Honors (H), and Advanced (A).
