Electives Department

11th and 12th grade students have the opportunity to choose elective classes they would like to take during the course of the year.

The following is a listing of currect electives available for the 11 and 12 grade students:

11th Grade

French III advanced course for students who wish to develop language proficiency full-year
Spanish III advanced course for students who wish to develop language proficiency full-year
Latin III advanced course for students who wish to develop language proficiency full-year
A.P. Statistics traditional college-level course which is open to students with advanced mathematical skills full-year
Anatomy and Physiology this course examines the structure and function of the mammalian body, including the human. Focus of the course is on how structure and function work together at the level of cells, tissues and organs semesters I & II
Writing Workshop this course helps to further writing skills semesters I & II
Math Workshop this course is designed to upgrade fundamental mathematical skills semesters I & II
Rhetoric & Public Speaking this course is for students who wish to learn how to write and deliver an effective speech semesters I & II
Supplementary Physics this course must be taken by anyone who will enroll in AP Physics semester I
Creative Writing this course furthers creative writing in relaxed, informal and inspiring atmosphere semester I
Jewish Philosophy this course focuses on discussing the philosophical questions frequently asked today semester II
Advanced Expository Writing this course if offered for students who wish to pursue greater opportunities for expository writing semester II
Introduction to Studio Art this course if for students who wish to explore their artistic talent. Those who wish to take AP art as a senior should consider this course semesters I & II
Astronomy semester II
Music Theory this course focuses on the structure and elements of music semester I
Microsoft Office this course is for the students who wish to become efficient in Word, Excel, Access and Power Point semester I
Supreme Court Cases this course explores some of the most interesting, well-known and controversial decisions of the United States Supreme Court which have shaped our government, rights and life style during the last 200 years semester II

12th Grade

AP Biology this course covers introductory college biology full-year
AP Chemistry this course covers introductory college chemistry full-year
AP Computer Science this course is designed to teach programming (JAVA) full-year
AP Macro-Economics this course covers introductory college economics full-year
AP Physics this course covers introductory college physics full-year
Introduction to Business this course provides an overview and basic vocabulary within the general area of business full-year
AP Psychology/ psychology there are two courses. The AP course is similar to the first-year college course full-year
AP Statistics traditional college-level statistics course full-year
AP Studio Art this is an intensive art course exploring advanced technical and creative skills full-year
French IV this course is for students who are interested in preparing for the AP exam or who just want to continue developing their communication skills full-year
Spanish IV this course is for students who are interested in preparing for the AP exam or who just want to continue developing their communication skills full-year
Introduction to Computer Science this is a non-technical course which covers the basics of working with computers full-year
AP English this course covers introductory college English full-year
Fantasy and Science Fiction this course will examine short stories drawn from the post 1960 contemporary period semester I
Reading the Movies this course will help develop habits of perception, analysis, criticism, understanding and appreciation of film semester I
Contemporary Jewish Literature the focus of the course will be primarily placed on living American authors such as Thane Rosenbaum and Allegra Goodman semester I
Western Mythology this course will focus on the study of the Western cultural heritage revealed in myths semester II
Worlds of Fiction this course will focus on short stories of non-western cultures semester II
Readings in Non-Fiction this course will examine multitude of essays from various disciplines such as politics, anthropology, history, etc. semester II
